The Home Page

Google Analytics has been going through a descent amount of UI changes over the past few months and Google is back at it again with another pretty big addition. The screenshot above depicts the new “Home” page for GA, which will act as thedefault landing page once you sign in. I think this is a better UX decision than the current setup, but I would prefer an Account list similar to GTM and G-Opt, and how GA used to work. Aside from that, there are some pretty awesome design decisions in terms of layout on this Home page — I really love the treatment of the visual in the top right. According to Google, this page will be pre-populated based on your unique setup, so unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like you will be able to customize this page.

The Discover Page

In addition to the Home page, Google is also including a new “Discover” page:

This page will act as an area to find out more about other GA products (like GTM, G-Opt, Data Studio, etc.) while also serving up things like custom alerts and educational recommendations. I don’t mind this addition, but it seems like something that could live outside the product instead of having its own dedicated tab. I fear that this is another layer of bloat on a product that already feels cumbersome for new users.
